Putin in Greece on Friday

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in Greece on Friday at the head of a large delegation of government ministers and business executives, including the chiefs of Gazprom and Rosneft.

His arrival comes 10 years after the last time he was in the country, a pre-crisis period.

The visit comes amid a commemorative year in Greek-Russian relations.

He will also visit the semi-autonomous all-male monastic community of Mount Athos.

Talks with the Greek side are expected to focus on bilateral trade and commercial relations, with recent reports pointing to resurging interest by the Russian side over rail networks in Greece as well as the port of Thessaloniki privatization.
