“Golden opportunities for profits” during the 90-day period when there is a suspension of the new Trump tariffs, stressed Dimitris Mardas, Professor of Economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, speaking on Naftemporiki TV.
“There will be significant profits, but losses will also accumulate from those who do not know or from those who are afraid,” he added.
The professor referred to the uncertainty prevailing worldwide after Trump’s decision, while he did not hesitate to call protectionist measures and tariffs “obsolete” as they are reminiscent of periods from the US past that led to recession.
“Behind Trump there are businesses and businesses expect profits. When losses accumulate, then they pull the US president’s ear because they helped him get elected,” he stressed.
