AADE to launch digital audits on licence plates, customer lists and property owners in September

From September, AADE will be able to digitally identify the owners of vehicles that are driving without insurance or without having passed through a KTEO or with unpaid traffic fees

The Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) is speeding up the procedures for the implementation of a series of new digital audits as of September.

From next month, the digital control of license plates will begin as well as the implementation of the Digital Client List for a number of business sectors with the aim of identifying cases of tax evasion, the Registry of Property Ownership and Management as well as the interconnection of the AADE real estate database with the Land Registry with the view to carrying out cross checkings and identifying any undeclared properties, false information or even undeclared rents.

Digital control of license plates

From September, AADE will be able to digitally identify the owners of vehicles that are driving without insurance or without having passed through a KTEO or with unpaid traffic fees.

Inspections in vehicles will be carried out through a special platform that will be prepared in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance. Controls will be carried out once every six months, while the fines for violators will start from 250 euros and may reach, depending on the violation, in case of recurrence, even 30,000 euros.

Digital customer list

The development of the application of the digital customer list for the trade sectors, in September will be another tool of AADE in the fight against tax evasion.

Later it is expected to be extended to campsites, tourist businesses, private schools, clinics and hospitals, diagnostic centers, doctors, lawyers, etc.

The digital client will be interconnected with MyDATA. The audit will also be able to be done by the auditor’s office, to cross check if and when, for example, someone visited a doctor. The number of clients of each practitioner will be recorded and compared to the number of service receipts issued.

Property owners

Meanwhile, more than 7 million owners and tenants are expected to be targeted by the tax authorities from next month, as a digital real estate file will also be launched.
