Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis placed special emphasis on innovation, during his meeting with the heads of companies and associations of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), at Maximos Mansion.
“We are trying to promote innovation,” he emphasized, while thanking the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, for the meeting with the heads of pharmaceutical companies.
The prime minister underlined that “we live in a rather complicated environment. Sometimes we feel that we have to square the circle in trying to provide our citizens with innovative medicines as well as generics at the best possible price, ensuring that we protect our citizens from disruptions in the supply chain, while trying to support innovation and companies.”
He also said that issues concerning European competitiveness are at the center of the New Democracy’s election campaign and pointed out that there will be pressure on the European institutions to improve the framework.
Bourla: We are entering a period of scientific renaissance
On his part, Bourla said that the CEOs of leading companies worldwide are present at the meeting, adding that Greece consistently supports innovation.
“We are entering a period of scientific renaissance,” he underlined and explained that “this translates into specific investments.”
He also referred to the opportunities offered by Greece to promote innovation and pointed out that “Greece’s voice is now respected and appreciated.”
