Skroutz: Average basket price up 8.5% during Christmas

The average basket price on Skroutz Marketplace during the period under review reached 67 euros, showing an increase of 8.51% compared to last year

The increase in the average price of consumer spending during Christmas holidays was single digit, according to Skroutz data. The well-known marketplace recorded online shopping traffic during this year’s Christmas holiday period (10-22/12/2023) compared to the corresponding period last year (11-23/12/2022).

The average basket price on Skroutz Marketplace during the period under review reached 67 euros, showing an increase of 8.51% compared to last year. In terms of product categories chosen by consumers, the highest increase in sales was seen in the Men’s Tops category (108.58%), reflecting the growing consumer preference for Skroutz’s Fashion category.

The list of the top 10 best-selling product categories during the holiday season 2023 included Mobile Cases, Mobile Phones, Special Nutritional Supplements, Vitamins, Board Games, Bluetooth Handsfree, Face Creams, Sneakers, Mobile Screen Protectors, Lego Toys.

Online shopping for the Christmas period increased by 28% compared to the same period last year, while the highest online shopping traffic occurred on Monday, December 18, when the amount of orders exceeded 45,000.

It is noteworthy that consumers chose shopping on-the-go with purchases through the Skroutz app and visits to the app increased by 24.5%. At the same time, an increase of 40% compared to last year is also observed for Express deliveries via Skroutz, with deliveries via Skroutz Last Mile increasing by 54%. It is worth noting that orders that left Skroutz warehouses (Fulfilled by Skroutz) for the holiday season increased by 236% compared to the same period last year.
