The World Travel Market 2023, one of the largest tourism exhibitions in the world, opens its gates on Monday.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) will be present in the exhibition, while “Naftemporiki” is participating for the second year in order to record the successes, new ideas, trends, but also the concerns that dominate the tourism market.
Estimates are positive for tourism, both in Greece and at an international level, despite the ongoing geopolitical and economic difficulties. In general terms, the climate is very similar to the one that prevailed at last year’s event. All eyes are turned on the geopolitical crisis, which is close to us, while the European economy is showing signs of stagnation.
The big question, however, is whether the trend of ‘revenge travel’ will continue, i.e. the desire of people to travel after the coronavirus pandemic, which was partially financed by savings during the lockdowns.
The first estimates of tourism market representatives are optimistic, provided that the violent conflict in the Middle East is not going to escalate with the involvement of other countries.
The GNTO is “present”
The Greek National Tourist Organization (GNTO) will be “present” at the World Travel Market 2023, on November 6. A delegation, headed by the general secretary Dimitris Fragakis, will be in London in order to participate in the international tourism exhibition, during which important events have been planned.
WTM is aimed at tourism professionals and gathers over 5,000 exhibitors, covering the entire range of activities of the global tourism industry.
During the exhibition, meetings will be held with major Tour Operators (TOs) and airlines in view of the new 2024 tourist season, while the general secretary of the GNTO, Dimitris Fragakis, will give a series of interviews to foreign media. On the sidelines of the exhibition, GNTO, is organizing two important events
- the “Sustainability Marathon”
- the “Greek Women Mean Business”
Finally, the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between GNTO and MasterCard is planned, with which the Greek National Tourism Organization becomes, among other things, an official member of the “MasterCard Tourism Innovation Hub”, in which countries from all over Europe participate.
