Greek bonds are currently eligible for the PEPP, which is the only active program of the ECB, through reinvestments, ECB President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday in response to a question by “Naftemporiki.”
Lagarde gave earlier a press conference on the next steps regarding interest rates and the prospects of the Greek and European economy.
However, she added that she cannot estimate what will be done with APP and whether there will be a need for investments.
Asked to comment on the fact that interest rates on bank deposits are at zero, while interest rates on loans are increasing, she acknowledged that this is a phenomenon observed in many European countries. She noted, however, that it is not the jurisdiction of the ECB or the national central banks, but of the competent local authorities.
