Neptune Lines building two new generation vehicle transport ships

The Chinese shipyard Fujian Mawei has undertaken their construction and the ships are expected to be delivered by 2026.

Neptune Lines fleet will be strengthened with two new generation vehicle transport ships in the coming years.

More specifically, the shipping company announced the order of two ships, with a capacity of 4,200 CEUs each, equipped with dual fuel engines and specially designed for the short sea routes it serves.

The Chinese shipyard Fujian Mawei has undertaken their construction and the ships are expected to be delivered by 2026.

The new ships are the first two of Neptune Lines’ Genesis project, which reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its fleet over the next decade, increasing cargo capacity by 36% compared to current ships and reducing emissions while remaining ahead of global goals.

Both ships have hybrid energy systems, designed and built to use a battery installation to provide peak power.

At the same time, they are equipped with dual-fuel engines, meaning they can use LNG or VLSGO as fuel for reduced greenhouse gas emissions in a high-pressure two-stroke engine.
