The total wind power connected to the Greek grid has almost reached 5 gigawatts, according to the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN). More specifically, the total wind power in Greece was 4,935.4 MW at the end of the first half of 2023.
According to ELETAEN’s report, 77 wind turbines were connected to the network in the last six months, enhancing the wind power by 5.4% compared to the end of 2022. The new wind parks with a capacity of 252.5 MW correspond to investments of more than 260 million euros.
ELETAEN pointed out that in the first half of 2023 more new wind turbines were connected to the grid compared with last year as a result of the gradual completion of large wind investments thanks to the efforts of businesses, the scientific world and wind energy professionals operating in Greece.
