The Greek economic sentiment index fell slightly to 108.1 points in May from 108.7 points in April and 107.2 in the same last year, the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research IOBE said in a report on Friday.
IOBE attributed this development to lower expectations in most sectors, apart from the construction sector that showed improvement.
However, consumer confidence was moving higher to -34.5 points in May compared with -44.6 points in April and -51.3 points in the same period last year.
Moreover, expectations in the industrial sector fell to 105.1 points in May from 108.9 points in April and 111.4 points in the same month last year.
Despite the continued but smaller increase in food and other basic goods prices, consumption remains at high levels. Although positive expectations seem to be maintained, the climate will depend on the new pre-election period and especially on the economic policy that will be formed after the elections, according to IOBE.
