Greek stocks came under strong selling pressure on the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday pushing the general index of the market below the 1,100 barrier.
The index fell l1.35% to close at 1,090.53 points. The Large Cap index dropped 1.46% and the Mid Cap index ended 0.93% down. Turnover was moderate 67.10 million euros in volume of 25,308,712 shares.
Elvalhalcor (3.66%), Viohalco (2.12%) and Piraeus Port (1.02%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while National Bank (-4.52%), Aegean Airlines (-3.75%), Alpha Bank (-3.54%) and Piraeus Bank (-2.91%) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Raw Materials (2.32%) and Food (0.03%) moved up, while Financial Services (-6.81%) and Banks (-3.13%) moved down. Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 74 to 32 with another 10 issues unchanged. Akritas (4.80%) and Minerva (4.0%) were top gainers, while Sato (-19.05%) and Yalco (-18.95%) were top losers.
